Our Story
Hi, I'm Almar, the founder of Cuulu.
One night a friend complained to me that he couldn't find a thick enough pillow to rest on. In the conversation, I remembered that I also struggled to find a good fit, sleeping on two pillows every night whilst still being uncomfortable.
I looked everywhere for a single thick, good-quality pillow that actually helped. Everything was either too soft, too thin, or marketed around "luxury" features that had nothing to do with height. So I decided to build it myself.
The Problem
Hard to Find a Good Thick Pillow
Most bed pillows are stuffed with 700–900 grams of fill, which makes a 4-inch pillow. If you sleep on your side, or you just like your head up, that's not enough.
Most people default to stacking two pillows, but two pillows shift and end up scattered by morning. Not many companies are making single pillows that are simply taller and firmer. That's why Cuulu exists.
Building It
No shortcuts on the spec.
I wanted 1,300 grams of polyester microfiber fill in a standard queen shell, nearly double what a typical pillow carries and the thickest in the industry, with a 100% cotton down-proof cover and a piped edge to hold the shape. The whole point is height and firmness, but still keeping it cool and soft to touch.
